My writing journey started while working as a model in New York. It was fun for a while, but I realized the magic I was seeking was in the worlds I create in my stories.
I discovered my love for storytelling late. My first love was modeling, the last thing I wanted to do was write, but you couldn’t catch me without a book in my hands. I remember the exact moment, sitting in my Brooklyn apartment that a powerful wave of inspiration came over me. I wanted to write, and it scared me. I thought “who do I think I am” to think that I could write an entire book.
But each day the feeling grew and I became more excited as time passed. Then I realized I was actually really good. My skill needed work, and still does but my imagination, world-building and the original stories that pour out of me to this day impress me. Creating other realities and characters that jump off the page is challenging and frustrating, but mostly it brings me joy and excitement.
My voice tells Fantasy stories of Black girls who are put in impossible situations and are left to ‘figure it out’. My privilege and challenge is to write Fiction and Fantasy that are full of magic but are centered around God and spirituality. The goal is that my writing takes you on an adventure that brings you closer to God within yourself.
